Terms of service

These terms govern your use of SpotSalary. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Last updated October 25, 2026

The service

SpotSalary provides modelled salary benchmarks, forecasts, take-home estimates, relocation comparisons and optional personal market-value tools. Public reports require no account. Accounts are passwordless and verified by email.

We may add, change, suspend or remove features at any time. We aim to keep public report URLs stable, but we do not guarantee permanent availability of any page or figure.

Estimates, not advice

All figures are modelled estimates for general information. They are not offers of employment, official statistics, tax advice, legal advice, financial advice or a guarantee of future pay. You are responsible for verifying anything that matters before making a decision.

Read the disclaimer and methodology for the limits of the data.

Accounts

You must provide an email address you control. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email secure. Do not share verification codes. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms or creates risk for the service or other users.

You can stop using the service at any time. Contact us to request deletion of account data.

Acceptable use

  • Do not scrape, crawl or automate requests in a way that degrades the service or bypasses rate limits.
  • Do not attempt to access non-public systems, other users’ data or restricted APIs.
  • Do not upload or transmit malware, unlawful content or content that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Do not use the service to make automated decisions about individuals that require a higher standard of accuracy or human review.
  • Do not misrepresent a modelled estimate as an official statistic or a guaranteed offer.
  • Do not resell or redistribute the service in bulk without written permission.

Reasonable, rate-limited access by search engines and AI assistants to public pages is welcome. See the robots.txt file for the current policy.

Intellectual property

The site design, text, generated report structure, software and branding are owned by SpotSalary or its licensors. You may read, link to and quote short extracts from public reports with attribution to SpotSalary and the report URL.

You may not copy substantial portions, republish full reports, remove attribution or use the SpotSalary name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement without permission.

Your content

You retain ownership of the profile information you enter. You grant us a limited licence to store and process it to provide the service, calculate your estimate and maintain your history. We do not publish your profile or salary.

Third-party services and links

The service relies on third-party infrastructure, AI providers, email delivery, fonts and libraries, and may link to external sources. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability or practices. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.

Availability and changes

The service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation or that a report will be generated within a particular time. Scheduled maintenance, provider outages and rate limits may affect availability.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that estimates are accurate, complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpotSalary is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, opportunities, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or reliance on an estimate.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (if any) or the minimum amount required by applicable law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify SpotSalary against claims and costs arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms or your infringement of another person’s rights, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, create risk or use the service unlawfully. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers and liability — will survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts at that place have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The “last updated” date shows the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Can I quote a SpotSalary figure in an article or presentation?

Yes, with attribution to SpotSalary and a link to the report URL. Do not present the estimate as an official statistic or a guaranteed offer.

Can I use SpotSalary data to train an AI model?

Public pages are crawlable under the rules in robots.txt, but bulk copying or redistribution needs written permission. Contact us to discuss a licence.

Are the terms a contract with my employer?

No. These terms govern your use of SpotSalary only. They do not create any relationship between you and an employer, recruiter or third party.
